A solid sliding gate operated by remote control protects the entrance. Once on the property, you step into the hidden garden; a tropical courtyard paradise complete with a burbling koi pond, overhead trellises covered in sweet-smelling flowering vines that beckon butterflies, dappled light throughout, stepping stone paths surrounded by easy-to-manage gravel and a large number of beautiful tropical plants and trees. At the opposite end of the garden is a gate with foot access to the beach, merely steps away.

To your right is the open breakfast/café deck, a polished wood floored space with an open-kitchen counter service area at one end and an adjacent semi-open office area good for a reception and tours operator. Lightweight breakfast tables and chairs are easily stored in the very large bodega located behind the kitchen, allowing for the polished wood floor to be conveniently transformed into a yoga platform. The bathroom for the café includes showers, for guests returning from the beach.

Four intimate luxury villas circle the garden. Each villa’s layout features a ground floor open-concept kitchen, dining, living area plus a guest bathroom. A sliding glass door leads out to an individual plunge pool and outdoor deck and private garden. The indoor staircase leads up to the second floor with a full bathroom and two bedrooms on either side. The larger bedroom faces the ocean, and the second looks out onto the garden. A peek-boo-porthole window in the second floor lets you see the goings-on in the kitchen below. Each villa offers a guitar to encourage guests to sit and strum and take their minds off their screens and their cares.

The villas are all completed in high-quality, luxury finishes. Each layout has subtly unique properties allowing for the marketing of these villas as individual and distinctive. Three units line the beachside of the property, the fourth is slightly further inside the garden, and features a balcony off the master bedroom on the second floor for the most beautiful of all the ocean views.

Additional infrastructure notes include a very large laundry room behind the breakfast café, the even larger bodega adjacent, a few security cameras are in place – they just need to be connected to a security system. Presently Espadilla Ocean Club employs 8 staff – 2 maids, 2 security people, a maintenance staff, the tour operator, and the manager. The oldest villa is 7 years old, the newest is 4 years old.
