Rachel Weagley was primed for a life as an elementary school teacher, but it wasn\342\200\231t long before she grew tired of dealing with human beings who were incapable of listening or speaking in full, logical sentences\342\200\224 and that was just the administrators.
The children themselves weren\342\200\231t quite so much of a problem, so Rachel worked as a lead teacher at a child care center and as a personal nanny until the birth of her own son.
\342\200\234After having my son, I knew I wanted to keep a job that allowed me to be home with him instead of having to put him into a childcare center (ironic I know since I've spent so many years caring for other people's kids),\342\200\235 she says. \342\200\234Real Estate has always been in the back of my mind, but I was afraid to take the leap to change my career path. With my son becoming older and closer to school age, I knew it was the right time to make the leap.\342\200\235
Rachel has received an \342\200\234A\342\200\235 for making the leap from education to real estate, where she is now teaching them how to find a home that is the perfect fit. And really, if you have become skilled in removing crayon fragments from a toddler\342\200\231s nose, calculating the proper number of bedrooms for a growing family is child\342\200\231s play.
Plus, Rachel enjoys the diversity of people she meets on the job, a variety that can only be fully appreciated after listening to \342\200\234Baby Shark\342\200\235 an estimated 45,000 times in the row.
\342\200\234I love that I get the chance to work with a lot of different people coming from different backgrounds and having different needs,\342\200\235 she says. \342\200\234It will always be a new challenge I am presented with to make sure I can help find the perfect home for them or help them sell their home. Knowing I am the one trusted with such a big decision in their lives is an amazing feeling.\342\200\235
As a single mom, Rachel draws motivation from these decisions, whether it's homebuying or career building. \342\200\234Once I discovered the opportunity to take real estate classes online, I jumped on it,\342\200\235 she said. \342\200\234I want to be a model for my son, showing that you should always pursue your dreams no matter what it takes.\342\200\235
When not showing homes, Rachel enjoys spending time with her son and boyfriend, saying \342\200\234We love to be outdoors doing anything, from parks to walks to fishing or just watching him ride his bike and four-wheeler.\342\200\235 (Her son, not her boyfriend.)
